Abdullahi’s comments came in relation to the ongoing detention and court cases of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who is facing allegations of corruption. Abdullahi asserted that El-Rufai is being held due to accusations from his time as governor. “This is why we say they are holding Malam Nasir El-Rufai indefinitely for things he allegedly did during his governorship,” Abdullahi said.

Abdullahi expressed concerns that the way anti-corruption investigations were conducted suggests a biased approach towards opposition politicians, leading to suspicions that these agencies are being weaponized for political agendas.
