Tinubu Occupied Buhari’s House On Buhari’s Burial Day And Prevented Atiku From Coming Close

In an interview with Channels Television on Monday, September 14, 2026, Solomon Dalung, a former Minister, stated that President Bola Tinubu lost an opportunity to gain the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s huge support base in Northern Nigeria

Dalung said during Buhari’s burial, Tinubu occupied Buhari’s house and prevented former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from coming close to the house

Dalung said when Atiku came down from his vehicle about one kilometer away from Buhari’s house during the burial and northerners saw him, they decided to rally around him as their new leader in the north

In Dalung’s words: “The death of Buhari if Tinubu had managed the situation very well he would have taken advantage of it. But on the day of the burial of Buhari Tinubu handed over the legacies of Buhari to Atiku because he went and occupied Buhari’s house, and prevented Atiku from coming even close. If they were smart enough the person they would have even allowed to enter and lock him up in Buhari’s house so that the public do not see, only through the television, would have been Atiku”
