Actress and filmmaker Angela Eguavoen has shared her views on infidelity, saying she believes men generally cheat while stressing that respect should remain important in relationships.
Speaking during an interview with The PUNCH, Eguavoen said she holds the belief partly as a way of managing her expectations in case she ever discovers that a partner has been unfaithful.
She acknowledged that men often challenge her view whenever she makes the claim, insisting that not every man cheats.
“I strongly believe that all men cheat. Whenever I say that, the men will say, “It is not all men.” I think it is a belief I use to console myself just in case I am in a relationship and suddenly find out that the person I am dating is cheating.
“I would not kill or hurt him, and I would not do anything I would regret.
“I believe all men cheat, but if you are going to cheat, do not rub it in your woman’s face. Just show her respect..That is one of the biggest forms of respect a man can offer his wife or girlfriend.”
Eguavoen said that while infidelity would be painful, she would not respond by harming her partner or doing something she could later regret.
She added that if a man chooses to cheat, he should at least avoid deliberately humiliating or disrespecting his partner, describing consideration for a woman’s dignity as an important part of a relationship.
