Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lere Olayinka, has reacted to the response given by the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, Peter Obi, when asked how he intends to rekindle the hope of Nigerians if elected.
Obi was asked during an interview on Adeola Feyehun YouTube broadcast, what he would do differently to ensure that Nigerians’ hopes were not dashed in 2027.
Responding to the question, Obi said past political leaders had changed over time, citing former military Head of State Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as examples.
“Buhari of 1987 is not Buhari that died, Tinubu of Lagos is not Tinubu of now,” Obi said.
Reacting to the response in a post on social media, Olayinka criticised Obi, questioning the relevance of the statement to the question he was asked.
He wrote: “It is obvious that the MOUTH of this man is like 50km faster than his BRAIN. Abi which kin response be this bayi.”
Olayinka also took a swipe at supporters of the former Anambra State governor, saying they would still applaud him despite his response.
“But to say that a State like Anambra that produced Prof Dora Akunyili, Chinua Achebe, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Prof Soludo, etc, also produced this Peter Obi enh…” he added.
The reaction followed renewed attention to Obi’s public engagements as political parties and emerging opposition alliances intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
