Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has recalled an encounter he had with victims of a robbery incident while travelling from Owo, Ondo State, to Lagos late at night many years ago.
In a recent video from 2:39, Disu shared the experience while recounting some of the incidents he encountered during his years in the Nigeria Police Force. He said he was serving as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owo at the time and was travelling home to Lagos around midnight when he noticed two vehicles suspiciously parked along the expressway.
“I remember a long time ago when I was Divisional Police Officer in Owo, Ondo. Then I was traveling home late at night to Lagos in the midnight,” Disu recalled.
According to the police chief, the situation immediately attracted his attention, particularly after he noticed two people frantically waving at him and apparently asking him to stop.
He said the positioning of the vehicles and the behaviour of the individuals made him quickly realise that something was wrong.
“I got to a place and saw 2 vehicles the way they were parked by the expressway. And I saw 2 people the way they were waving frantically for me to stop,” he said.
Disu said his experience and instinct as a police officer immediately led him to conclude that the individuals were victims of a robbery attack.
“I knew immediately a robbery had occurred and those were the victims of the robbery,” he added.
