Jake Epelle has raised concerns over the title “King of kings,” which he said is being used by some supporters of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during an interview from 4:21 on SYMFONI TV, Epelle described the development as troubling, particularly because of the religious significance attached to the expression.
Epelle said he was concerned that Wike had not publicly rejected the title despite it reportedly being used by members of his political camp. He argued that the FCT Minister has the freedom to decide whether to accept the name given to him by his supporters.
The commentator also discussed Wike’s political influence in Rivers State and questioned the structure he is allegedly trying to establish ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Epelle, the situation raises questions about whether opposition politicians in the state have enough political organisation, resources and support to challenge Wike’s influence.
Epelle said the use of the title was “very dangerous, spiritually and morally,” adding that Wike’s failure to publicly rebuke it was disturbing to him.
In his words, “(Wike) who is going by the title now, King of kings. And that’s very dangerous, spiritually and morally, even if that’s a name that his political studges are calling him, for him to accept that kind of name publicly, without rebuking it, to me it’s very disturbing.”
