According to Channels TV from 2:59 , an African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain has criticized the detention and bail conditions imposed on former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing the situation as politically motivated.
The ADC leader argued that El-Rufai knowingly returned to Nigeria despite being aware that he could face arrest and legal proceedings.
“If you’re looking for a political prisoner, he’s been held down not because he has committed any crime bigger than we can manage in Nigeria,” the ADC leader stated. “But we all know what is behind it. He could have stayed away from the country. He chose to come backieftain also questioned the conditions attached to El-Rufai’s bail, saying the requirements were excessively difficult and could raise concerns further highlighted what he described as the contributions of former President Muhammadu Buhari, A Buhari, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and Nasir El-Rufai, I am not sure that President Tinubu will be in office today to the country. He knew he was going to be arrested, and he was arrested.”
The party chieftain also questioned the conditions attached to El-Rufai’s bail, saying the requirements were excessively difficult and could raise concerns even among his political opponents.
“Even impossible conditions, the bail conditions given to him are so horrendous that even his enemies would wonder why he has to go through such painful experience in the hands of a government that he helped to midwife,” he declared.
He further highlighted what he described as the contributions of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari and El-Rufai to the political rise of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“That for God, the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and Nasir El-Rufai, I am not sure that President Tinubu will be in office today,” the ADC chieftain added.
