Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi has alleged that some individuals connected to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), are afraid to certify documents relating to Peter Obi’s academic records.
Arabambi made the claim during an interview from 18.54 on News Central TV, while discussing his legal action against UNN over Obi’s academic credentials. He is asking the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel the university to release certified records concerning the Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy reportedly awarded to Obi in 1984.
According to Arabambi, some people had contacted him privately and advised him to take the matter to court because they were afraid of certifying the documents he was requesting.
He claimed that those individuals feared for their lives if they officially handled the records.
Arabambi also alleged that he had received threats over his challenge to Obi’s academic qualifications. He said two people sent him messages threatening to kill him because of his actions against the former Anambra State governor.
In his words, “Some people have spoken to me off Camera, from the NYSC, even from UNN, about it that, ‘We will not certify this; you better go to court.’ Do you know why? They fear for their lives. I’m saying it on national television: they fear for their life.”
