Former National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party in the South-South and National Chairman of the South-South Democratic Movement, Favour Reuben, has explained that his long-standing support for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike does not mean he is prepared to give up the political structure he has built over the years.
Reuben made the clarification in an interview shared by PUNCH on Sunday, September 27, 2026, while discussing his political relationship with Wike and addressing claims about his political affiliations.
According to Reuben, he has consistently supported Wike politically, and those familiar with his political activities are aware of his relationship with the minister.
However, he rejected the suggestion that supporting Wike requires him to abandon his own political structure.
Reuben said, “I have supported Wike politically for a long time. Everybody who knows me knows that. But supporting somebody does not mean I should surrender the political structure I built.”
The former Labour Party official also denied claims that he had worked for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara or belonged to a political group loyal to the governor.
Reuben maintained that he had never worked for Fubara and challenged anyone making such claims to provide evidence linking him to the governor or his political group.
