Efemena Umukoro, a member of the NDC and Urhobo Youth Leader, has recounted how he was attacked during the “One-Million-Man Match” campaign rally in Effurun, Delta State, on September 18, 2026.
Speaking in an interview from 8:11 with News Central TV, Umukoro said the rally organisers had written to the relevant authorities to notify them about the event before it was held.
He said that when they arrived at Uvwie Local Government Area, where the protest was scheduled to begin, he saw thugs blocking the road and approached their leaders.
According to Umukoro, he pleaded with the group not to disrupt the rally, but a young man suddenly brought out a battle axe and struck him in the back.
He said the attack did not harm him because he is an Urhobo youth leader. Umukoro also alleged that police officers were nearby but did nothing as he and other NDC supporters were attacked.
In his words: “On talking to these men they were bluntly telling me I cannot enter. The next thing was a young guy brought out a battle axe and stabbed me on the back. I am youth leader and Urhobo man, knife cannot penetrate me”
