NDC: We Are Working to Ensure That Peter Obi Is Sworn In as President on May 29, 2027 –Osa Director

The National Publicity Secretary of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Osa Director, has reaffirmed the party’s determination to secure victory for its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election.

Director made this known during an interview from 4:56 with Trust TV News on Monday, September 14, 2026, while discussing the party’s preparations for the 2027 election and its proposed model for mobilising financial support from Nigerians.

According to him, the NDC’s political activities are driven by a shared objective among the party’s leadership, members and supporters of the Obidient movement. He described the movement as part of the broader political structure working towards the party’s presidential ambition.

Director stressed that the NDC and the Obidient movement were not pursuing separate political objectives, but were working together towards the same electoral goal of installing Peter Obi as Nigeria’s president after the 2027 election.

He said the collective effort would also extend to the party’s planned fundraising and mobilisation activities, with supporters expected to play an active role in strengthening the party ahead of the election.

Speaking on the relationship between the party and the Obidient movement, Director said, “We are working for a common purpose: to ensure that our presidential flagbearer, His Excellency Peter Obi, is returned as the President-elect of Nigeria and sworn in on May 29th, 2027. So to that extent, it’s a collective effort.”

The NDC spokesman’s statement highlights the central position of Peter Obi in the party’s 2027 campaign strategy and signals its intention to consolidate the political support associated with the Obidient movement under the NDC platform.

His declaration also comes as the party prepares to introduce a crowdfunding system designed to involve ordinary Nigerians in financing its political activities.
