NDC vice presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has said his perception of President Bola Tinubu has changed, citing what he described as differences in the president’s approach to issues.
According to a video from 10:10 posted by Untold Stories on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, Kwankwaso made the remarks while discussing the fake agency scandal facing the Tinubu administration.
The former Kano State governor and ex-minister of defense questioned why the presidency had not taken visible action over the matter, saying he expected decisive action once wrongdoing within government becomes apparent.
Kwankwaso said his experience in public affairs had shaped his expectations of how a chief executive should respond to such situations.
He also linked the issue to concerns over public funds, referring to subsidy money and borrowed funds that he said appeared difficult to trace.
Kwankwaso further argued that unchecked spending by public officials could pose a danger to the economy, alleging that some officials had accumulated wealth comparable to that of the country’s richest businessmen.
Speaking about his changing perception of Tinubu, Kwankwaso said:
“I don’t find it funny because I used, I thought I used to know brother Tinubu.
“Probably I knew him but things have changed.
“Maybe age, maybe health, maybe worries, maybe I don’t know.
“Otherwise, he’s somebody that would have taken action day one at least to stop that and stop anybody who is planning to do anything like that across the country.”
Kwankwaso did not settle on a specific reason for what he described as the change, mentioning age, health and worries as possible factors.
